The New Hampshire Internet Exchange (NHIX) provides a common
forum for mutual inter-exchange of Internet network traffic among
multiple Internet Service Providers. NHIX is foremost a way of
creating a robust and stable Internet architecture. The goal of the NHIX
is to off-load network traffic as close to the source and destination
as possible. This translates to better service for customers and helps
to relieve the bottleneck of traffic at the larger peering locations. NHIX
adds multiple points of entry to participating networks.
NHIX believes that by setting up a common meeting place for all
interested internet users via their access providers, we can reduce
transit times for local area messages, cut the high costs of transit
bandwidth, and generally all come out ahead.
